I can’t wait for you all to meet (or to meet again) Jason and Colby, and cinnamon pastries, and serious discussions about wizard romance and fantasy novels in between shooting scenes, while dressed in nineteenth-century wardrobe! This is the story I keep describing to people as “basically they’re actors filming Master & Commander but even more gay!” Which means…

~actors (gay and bi) falling in love while filming a gay Napoleonic War-era love story!

~lesbian, pan, and trans (and ace, in later books) side characters!

~slow-burn mutual pining!

~very much resolved sexual tension (at last!)

~lots of food/food-related puns!

~the purposeful opposite of the “bury your gays” trope!

~the most meaningful boot-removal scene I’ve ever written!

~a playlist that includes both Bruce Springsteen AND B*witched! (For the record, Colby’s the B*witched fan, though about five days after he was singing “C’est la Vie” in the kitchen, Jason’s folding laundry and starts randomly humming: “Say you will, say you won’t, say you’ll do what I don’t…say you’re true, say to me–DAMMIT COLBY WHY.”)
