Two paperbacks now available! First up, last year’s JMS Books 2024 Top Ten Gay Romance short story collection is now out in paperback! (Already out in ebook, last December!) It’s got my “Midwinter Music,” as well as stories from other JMS Books author-friends! (More news on THIS year’s Top Ten in an upcoming post!)

Also, the Love Is Free charity anthology from my publisher is out in paperback now (as well as ebook), if you would like one! It’s got the original short version of my Magician bonus story “Portraits” – that story was written for that anthology, and proceeds go to the ACLU!

In Focus, book 2 (of 2) of the Character Study duology (actor + photographer! bi-awakening! helpful friends! seahorse puns! a cat named Benvolio!) is now out in paperback – which means the whole series is out in paperback, pretty much!*

*the collected bonus stories will get a paperback sometime this year too – but the full-length novels are all out in paperback! That’s the original Character Bleed trilogy (Seaworthy, Stalwart, Steadfast: Jason/Colby) and then the two Character Study spin-off books (In Frame and In Focus: Leo/Sam).

Lots of news, including this year's JMS Books Advent Calendar, and more! (My Advent Calendar free story will be available December 20 - but more soon...) But for today, a happy bit of news - Apprentice's Luck, the new novel in the Middle Lands (the world of Magician), is now out in paperback!

It's high fantasy m/m romance, set ~150 years before Magician (you might recognize a name or two - no one knows where Lorre is, at the moment!), so it's got all new main characters; it'll stand alone fine if you've not read the others. And it's about Talis, an apprentice magician who doesn't think he's very good at magic, and Jer, a royal guardsman who thinks he's overheard a threat to the King...but no one else believes him...but perhaps a magician can help...

And of course there's falling for each other along the way. And tea. And Talis having a lot of emotions while watching Jer be quietly competent at weapons training. And opera-related jokes.

Jer and Talis have honestly become some of my favorite characters (I might have to write one more story for them...), so I hope you like them too!

“Renovations,” the Character Bleed bonus story people requested! (You all said you wanted to see it, when I said this was part of my headcanon...and we had all those comment-conversations about it...so I wrote it out properly! This one's for you; you know who you are. <3)

~Colby picking up a hammer to help, & Jason’s reaction (OH yes)

~bread-baking & sunlit kitchen kisses

I do still need to do a proper year-end round-up post, but...that seems like a lot of work, and I have two book reviews to finish and some copy-edits to look through, so...when I've got the time / mental space, perhaps! But there are a few things I'm very proud of this year. :-)
